[+] About Us
People-icon.svg

This wiki contains everything a budding mad (gender) scientist needs to further their work! Specifically, the driving goals behind this wiki are to:

  • Educate ourselves about the biology underlying transition and developmental sex differentiation.
  • Postulate and collect a compendium of hypothetical treatments that warrant further research.
  • Reduce harm by bringing together official standards of care for gender identities and intersex conditions.
  • Enable access to needed information freely to those who require help navigating the systems.
  • Provide a forum for people whom these conditions affect the most to become more educated and involved in the processes of their treatments, advancing healthcare ourselves!

  • Come discuss your wild ideas with other mad scientists over on our IRC channels! See the Project community guidelines page for more information.
  • CyborGhost, the co-founder and currently active content curator, can usually be reached on our IRC server. Or you can just leave a message on their talk page.
  • LilianaUmbra, the research librarian, is often on our IRC server. Or you can post a message on her talk page.
  • Mabel, the founder, can be sometimes be found on our IRC server. Or alternatively by leaving a message on her talk page.

Research Updates

Featured research

Testosterone levels achieved by medically treated transgender women in a United States endocrinology clinic.

This study assessed the anonymous medical records of 98 trans women taking spironolactone as part of their feminizing regimen, and assessed how much their testosterone levels dropped over time. * Please note that spironolactone is not an anti-gonadotropin and thus does not aim to suppress testosterone production, instead it is an androgen receptor antagonist and instead prevents androgens from activating the receptor. This is a common misconception that can lead to fairly useless data when testing for testosterone levels.

The Papers page is a thorough compendium of up-to-date trans-specific research with a high quality of evidence, as well as guides on ways to access them, or find more research.

It is at the heart of all our goals stated in the "About Us" tab below, and one of the more polished articles on the wiki having been curated by our research librarian LilianaUmbra.

The Books by trans authors page is a collection of works of both fiction and non-fiction authored by gender diverse individuals outside of the cis binary, it can be reorganized by clicking on the top panels.

Useful library tools

The following tools may be helpful for developing lists of your favourite books, or finding copies to purchase online or borrow from your local libraries. Feel free to send suggestions to Umbra

  • Worldcat is the largest online library catalogue in the world, useful for both finding available copies of books on this list at local libraries worldwide, and collecting cataloguing data (such as authorship, edition, available versions in other languages ISBN, ISSN, etc). Simply search by ISBN or title to find a detailed listing including branches in your area.
  • Goodreads is a very useful tool for organizing reading lists (called shelves), gathering reviews, finding books organized by genre, and connect with book selling and library sites such as Amazon and Worldcat.
  • Library Extension (Chrome) an extension that connects to the major online book vendors as well as Goodreads and provides you with how many copies are available within your local library branches.

Below are all the portals to our content categories, where many of our articles are filed away. Many of these subjects have yet to be filled in, so if a link isn't working that is probably the case.
